Live presentations just added an amazing new feature!

If you have read any of my work you know that I am always amazed at how much you can do with Microsoft PowerPoint. As an occasional presenter myself I can't wait to use their newest feature - Live Presentations! Microsoft recently announced the new "Live Presentations" are now available in PowerPoint. Applying this feature, you can show your presentation that is built in PowerPoint to anyone  who has internet access and also allow them to zoom in on important details, screen shot slides, and interact real-time. All you have to do is share a unique built in a QR code or link that is short. When viewers check the page, they are able to join the presentation that is live and also view live subtitles in more than 60 languages on their personal device. The presenter can also see the audience reactions that are in real time and the number if individuals who have joined the session. After the presentation is over, there is a survey feature that asks viewers for the feedback abou

How to record a voice-over without a studio

In her TED Talk from 2017 Lulu Miller showed the world some of the tricks used by people in radio, and by pod-casters to help make the audio you hear clean and crisp . Personally speaking, I have a wonderful home office. It is on the second floor of my home and I have great views with lots of natural light.  But, I live moments away from a fire station and right next to a pretty busy street. There are also plenty of beautifully manicured lawns nearby with a whole variety of pieces of power equipment going at any given time . Each of these sounds from the outside world can make recording a crisp dialogue pretty near impossible if it were not for my invisibility cloak . When I need a quiet place to record a voice-over I use a portable pop-up tent that I cover with a heavy blanket (my invisibility cloak) . It only takes seconds to setup or tear down, and it does a great job of deadening the sound from the room and keeps the outside noise out. I don’t do a ton of voice-ove

Working with difficult clients

Image
When we offer some kind of service to people (as many of us do), you will realize that some of your precious customers tend to be less difficult to do business with than others. Most are wonderful, some forgettable, and some you declare as completely impossible. Although your perspective of your client is determined by many factors (including your relative levels of expertise, your specialties, along with the nature of the project), I'm going to go out on a limb to say there in fact is such a thing as an “ impossibl e” customer — an individual who displays a number of “bad behaviors" which make the relationship more complicated than it needs to be and frustrates your ability to carry out the project you've been hired to produce. There are times, whenever customers behave in such a manner, our primal impulses kick in and we're inclined to react with even worse behaviors of our own. However, there's a better way. Difficult clientele can be controlled; but provi
